Make your own DIY Christmas Garland with star anise and twinkle lights.
Is there anything better than adding a little extra Christmas magic by weaving twinkle lights anywhere and everywhere you can? I mean, twinkle lights and garland go together like peas and carrots. It’s one of my favorite additions during the holidays! I picked up a set of twinkle star lights for the front porch this year. And then it donned on me – what if I could make something similar for the kitchen window? But more woodsy?
Enter star anise.
- Star Anise
- String Lights: 13 ft in Silver (I used two of the 13 ft strands)
This is such a quick, fun Christmas craft. All you need is star anise and string lights. I bought the large bag of star anise to make sure there were enough whole pieces [HERE]. I was pleasantly surprised that a good majority of them arrived whole! My plan is to use the broken ones for simmer pots or tea. Though I have so many whole ones left that I’ll be able do few more crafts with them as well. Maybe some wreaths. Or tie them to gifts as a cute gift tag. Or more garland. So many options!
To weave the star anise into the string lights:
Separate the two wires of the string lights and cross them in the center over a star anise.
Gently, pull the wires towards the back of the star anise and twist a couple times to secure along the back.
Repeat for the next section and so on until there is a star anise in each section of the string lights.
That’s all! Such a simple DIY Christmas garland. Simply weave it into a garland (or hang it on it’s own) for a beautiful woodsy touch to your Christmas decor.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season, full of rest and time spent with those you love!
